Canon Printer Reviews– Canon Selphy CP800 The Compact Photo Printer is known to be small. The latest in a long line of small Canon Lipo format photo printers, built with thermal technology, is even smaller than its predecessor, the Selphy CP780. It is extremely portable and easy to use, you can print from a variety of fonts, and produces prints that should satisfy most consumers.

The CP800 is a small black box with rounded corners (there is also a white version available). Measures only 2.3 4.7 inches and weighs 2 lbs. The Selphy has a tilting 2.5 inch LCD. The interface and menus are intuitive to virtually print itself.

Installation is easy: just plug it in, insert the paper and the ink cartridge, install the software on your computer and plug it through the USB cable. Selphy does not even need a computer, and you can print from a memory card, a PictBridge camera, or (unlike its predecessor) a USB key. The only difficult part of the configuration is to ensure that the film in the ink cartridge is inserted when taut; This is done by pressing a roller.

Options for the CP800 include a Bluetooth adapter and battery. The printer comes with a one year warranty, parts, and labor.

In our standard set of tests, the CP800 averaged 56 seconds per 4-by-6 image, which corresponds to the mean time of CP780; Individual printing times ranged from 53 seconds to 1 minute and 4 seconds. Its speed is fairly fast, although 15 seconds slower than the average 41-second Epson PictureMate Charm.
